Junior microbiologist (student)

What would you be doing?

  • Conduct routine microbiological tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
  • Analyse and interpret microbiological data, prepare detailed reports on findings, and provide recommendations for corrective actions when necessary.
  • Oversee quality control procedures to ensure product safety and consistency.
  • Help with sensory evaluation panels to assess product taste, smell, texture, and appearance.
  • Maintain accurate records of all tests, results, and observations.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and standards (HACCP, IFS).
  • Critically assess test results, prepare reports and list your suggestions.
  • Work with other teams to implement corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Keep the laboratory clean and organised.

What do you need?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or Biotechnology
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a microbiology laboratory setting, which can include internships or student research projects.
  • Familiarity with microbiological testing methods and food safety regulations.
  • Understanding of HACCP, and other food safety management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document and analyse data.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with basic laboratory equipment and software applications.
  • Fluent Slovenian and English.

Nice to have

  • Experience in the food production industry.
  • Knowledge of sensory evaluation techniques.
